Home Brewed with Shannon Hope

Catalina UnLtd is proud to present three theatre performances by Durban’s award-winning pianist and vocal artist Shannon Hope as part of “HOME BREWED – Made in Durban”, a series designed to celebrate the original music of Durban’s musicians and recording artists. Promoting her much-anticipated second album, “Fight A New Day”, which was released worldwide on 31 October, Hope concludes a nine-week nationwide tour in Durban, launching the album to her hometown audience with a 3-night run at the Catalina Theatre from 22-24 December, showcasing her repertoire in this ideal theatre setting. The Kawai-endorsed artist was awarded the 2011 Standard Bank Ovation Award for her performances at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown earlier this year, in recognition of “artistic innovation, excellence, the exploration of new performance styles and the courage to open new conversations through the arts”, an honour she shared with the likes of Chris Chameleon at this year’s festival. Tugging on South African heart strings since her debut solo release in 2009 with her intriguingly powerful heart songs, she has earned a reputation as one of the hardest-touring, self-managed solo artists on the national circuit, delivering an intensely honest personal commentary in a vocal epic that has mesmerised audiences countrywide. The show runs from 22-24 December with the performance starting at 8pm, and doors open an hour prior to the show. Tickets are R65 and are available from the theatre box office or Strictly Tickets.
